Suey is a mature student based in Chesterfield, and after a break in studies is now in her final year at Sheffield Hallam University studying for a BA(Hons) in Creative Art Practice.

After leaving school and starting full-time employment she attended many art based classes in Chesterfield.  She continued to attend classes culminating in studying part-time for a BTEC Diploma in Foundation Art and Design at Chesterfield College of Art.

Her practice involves the exploration of conveying and concealing emotions, based on personal experience of anxiety and depression. Her work is mainly three dimensional and she enjoys working in different materials. She feels her artwork helps her creatively explore our inner feelings and emotions, gaining satisfaction from the research and work she produces.

She was part of a group of seventeen artists who collaborated under the name ‘Spectrum’, who organised, produced and sold work at a Pop-up Shop in the University in October 2011.  The same group of artists also exhibited and sold work at the Sheffield Frost Fair 2011.  In March 2012, she collaborated with five other artists who organised, curated and exhibited their work at the ‘Einfuhlung’ Exhibition at the Workstation Gallery, Sheffield.

Along with fellow artists she attended the Making Space Conference in London on 25th February, 2012, ‘A day of dialogues between artists and psychonalysts.’  Guest speakers included Grayson Perry, Martin Creed and Dr. Sharon Kivland.

More recently alongside other artists, she was part of the Interim exhibition at the SIA Gallery, Cantor building, Sheffield.  This was a precursor to the Sheffield Hallam Degree Show Exhibition which is due to take place in June 2014.

She is one of a group of artists who collaborated to produce the catalogue for ‘Encounter’ the Creative Art Practice Degree Show 2014.
